SONY A7SIII CAMERA BODY
I waited on this camera body to be released for years before Sony finally gave us what we were waiting for! I now use this camera as my main camera and use it to shoot in 4K 10-bit 4:2:2. The uptick in video specs that this camera provides has made ALL the difference in providing me with expanded dynamic range, image information, and better colors to work with in my post-production workflow. This baby is a BEAST and I’m absolutely in love with her!
SONY 24-70MM F/2.8 G MASTER ZOOM LENS
I’m usually not a huge proponent of zoom lenses, but I couldn’t resist with this beautiful 24-70mm zoom lens from Sony. As a “GM” lens, this lens is one of Sony’s absolute best! It features a fast 9-blade f/2.8 aperture that allows for beautiful bokeh like you see in the B-roll shots of my video content. You’re going to get unparalleled image sharpness for lifelike footage that takes full advantage of your Sony camera body with this baby!
SONY ZV-1 DIGITAL CAMERA
The Sony ZV-1 is SO much more than a point-and-shoot camera. It has the option to capture video in the HLG format, meaning you can capture footage in the Rec.2020 color space for high dynamic range colors - plus it’s even capable of filming in 4K 30FPS! Sporting a large aperture 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens, there is SO much you can do with this all-in-one camera package. If you’re on a budget and looking to create video/photo content or live stream, you can do ALL of that with the Sony ZV-1 and its fantastic image quality!
SONY A6500 CAMERA BODY
If you can get a good deal on this baby, snag it! I filmed hundreds of videos on this camera body as my main camera when I made the switch to film/photo and tech-focused content on my YouTube channel. Even though I now use the Sony a7SIII as my main camera, the a6500 still serves as my secondary camera and overhead camera because of its fantastic image quality. Since it’s a few years old now, you can probably get a really good deal on it and it will still provide so much value!
SIGMA 30MM F/1.4 DC DN LENS
If there’s one lens in particular that you should grab for the Sony a6500, this is it! This lens is AMAZING for the price. The image is tack sharp throughout the entire frame, the fast aperture allows for some beautiful shallow depth of field and bokeh, and the focal length makes this one of the most versatile lenses available for a crop sensor camera body. For the majority of my Sony a6500 shots, I’m using this exact Sigma 30mm lens.
SIGMA 16MM F/1.4 DC DN LENS
If you need a lens that’s a little wider for your crop sensor camera body like my Sony a6500, you’re going to want to check this one out! Like the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, you get a tack sharp image throughout the entire frame but with a shorter focal length for a wider field of view while still maintaining an impressive f/1.4 fast aperture for great low-light performance. With phenomenal autofocus to further solidify my love for this lens, it’s a must-have in your APS-C equipment arsenal.
SONY 90MM F/2.8 MACRO G OSS LENS
This is the probably my favorite macro lens of all time. It can be used as a macro lens or a telephoto lens and with the stellar Sony “G” lens image quality, the fast autofocus, and the incredibly short minimum focal distance that this lens provides, I can’t say enough good things about it. This baby can be incredibly helpful in taking your photography and filmmaking to the next level if you need that longer focal length while maintaining stellar image quality!
SONY 10-18MM F/4 OSS LENS
It’s usually a toss-up between using this wide-angle lens and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4. Although this lens has the potential for some vignetting and barrel distortion because of its incredibly wide 10mm minimum focal length. If I ever need a wider field of view than the Sigma 16mm can provide, this Sony 10-18mm zoom focal lengths come in handy.
POLARPRO ND FILTERS
ND Filters are an absolute game-changer for filmmaking and photography - but not all ND Filters are made the same. PolarPro remains my go-to brand for ND filters on my cameras and drones because of their impeccable glass and build quality, versatility, and ease of use. I consider these a “must-have” in your setup as I only use PolarPro ND filters for my filmmaking and photography. They’re a no-brainer!
