MAIN CAMERA SETUP

A collection of the camera and lenses that I currently use for all of my filmmaking and photography content.

SONY A7SIII CAMERA BODY

I waited on this camera body to be released for years before Sony finally gave us what we were waiting for! I now film with this camera in 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 and the uptick in video specs that this camera provides has made ALL The difference in the world for giving me more dynamic range and better colors gradients for me to work with in post-production. This thing is a BEAST and I’m absolutely in love.

SONY 24-70MM F/2.8 G MASTER ZOOM LENS

I’m usually not a fan of zoom lenses, but I couldn’t resist with this beautiful 24-70mm zoom lens from Sony. As a “GM” lens, this lens is one of Sony’s absolute best. With a 9-blade aperture, you’re going to get beautiful bokeh like you see in the B-roll shots of my video content and you’re also going to get unparalleled image sharpness for lifelike footage that takes full advantage of what your Sony camera body offers. Like I said, I’m not usually a fan of zoom lenses - prime lenses are usually my thing - but I’ll make an exception for this lens without an ounce of hesitation.

SONY ZV-1 DIGITAL CAMERA

The Sony ZV-1 is SO much more than a point-and-shoot camera. It has the option to capture video in the HLG format, meaning you can capture Rec.2020 high dynamic range colors, plus you can even film up to 4K 30FPS. Sporting a large aperture 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens, there is SO much you can do with this one-stop camera package. If you’re on a budget and looking to create video/photo content and/or live stream, you can do ALL of that, with nothing more than a single purchase here with the Sony ZV-1. It’s incredible, I can’t recommend it enough for creators on a budget, and you can thank me later for taking the dive into the ZV-1 world!

SONY A6500 CAMERA BODY

If you can get a good deal on this baby, snag it! I filmed hundreds of videos on this camera body when I made the switch to film, photo, and tech-focused content on my YouTube channel. Even though I now use the Sony a7SIII as my main camera, the a6500 will always hold a special place in my heart and can still provide insanely good picture quality. I still sometimes use it as an overhead camera for my unboxing videos! Since it’s a few years old now, you can probably get a really good deal on it and it will still provide so much value!

SIGMA 30MM F/1.4 DC DN LENS

If there’s one lens in particular that you should grab for the Sony a6500, this is it. This lens is AMAZING for the price. The image is sharp throughout the entire frame, the wide aperture allows for some beautiful shallow depth of field and bokeh, and the focal length makes this one of the most versatile lenses available. Half the time, I’m using the Sigma 30mm lens with my Sony a6500.

SIGMA 16MM F/1.4 DC DN LENS

This lens is my go-to wide angle lens for my Sony a6500. We get a beautiful sharp image throughout the entire frame, just like we get on the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN lens, but with a shorter focal length for a wider field of view and an impressive f/1.4 wide aperture for great low-light performance. With phenomenal autofocus to further solidify my love for this lens, it’s a must-have in your APS-C equipment arsenal.

SONY 90MM F/2.8 MACRO G OSS LENS

Macro lenses are underrated and this Sony macro lens is no exception. This is the lens I use for ALL of the macro B-roll shots you see in my product reviews on my YouTube channel and I absolutely love it. It can be used as a macro lens or a telephoto lens and with the stellar “G” lens image quality, the fast autofocus, and the ridiculously short minimum focal distance that this lens provides, I can’t say enough good things about it and how helpful it can be in taking your photography and filmmaking to the next level. It can also be used on a full frame or crop sensor camera bodies.

SONY 10-18MM F/4 OSS LENS

It’s usually a toss-up between using this wide-angle lens and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4. Although this lens has the potential for some vignetting and barrel distortion, sometimes I need a very wide angle of view for filming on my Sony a6500, in which case the ultra wide 10-18mm zoom focal lengths come in handy. This is the lens I use when I need a shot wider than the field of view that the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 provides.

BMAC PolarPro QuartzLine ND Filters

POLARPRO QUARTZLINE ND FILTERS

PolarPro remains my go-to brand choice for ND filters on my cameras and drones because of their impeccable glass and build quality, versatility, and ease of use. Consider these PolarPro QuartzLine ND Filters a “must-have” in your setup. I don’t use any other ND filters but theirs.
